le ventre is a platform of contemporary relevance for experimental expression across all art forms. It provides space for the discourse on current and contemporary topics. Situated in the immediate vicinity of Basel on the French side of the border, le ventre continues in its own way the history of the ancient synagogue. The 18th century building  was right from the beginning vitally embedded in its tri-national environment.

The former sacred room of the synagogue, a pillar-free hall with remarkable accoustics,
lends itself particularly well to performances and site-specific art works that are developed over a period of time within the space.
le ventre wishes to cooperate with people and institutions that are, or want to be, active in the tri-national cultural space.
