artravers’ focus lies in the encounter between art and the environment:
the built, social and natural environment. The basis of all the artistic contributions to artravers#3 is an intensive engagement with what is there, what may have been forgotten or overlooked, or what shapes our everyday lives without us realising it.
artravers takes a particular interest in landscapes defined by borders. Inspired, in a sense, by Bruno Latour’s question “Where am I?”, artravers seeks to understand where we live and to bring about a “landing” of humanity on Earth, amidst all its inhabitants.
This approach underpins all of artravers’ artistic contributions.
artravers takes place every two years (the original idea was to organise an artravers every year).
artravers spreads out like a rhizome across a landscape marked by boundaries, forging links between art venues, artists, local residents and art enthusiasts.
artravers is linked to Ateliers Ouverts. Ateliers Ouverts spans the whole of Alsace as far as Basel and is organised every year in mid-May by the Strasbourg-based artists’ collective Accéllérateur de Particules. The link between the two events helps both sides to network across national borders in the Dreyeckland region.
